Instructor: Karen Smock
Course Description: A temari is a traditional Japanese hand ball (“te” = hand, “mari” = ball) that evolved into a decorative craft featuring intricate thread patterns on a sphere. Its designs are either wrapped or embroidered onto the ball to form a wide variety of beautiful designs. In this class, you will learn how to adapt several of these traditional temari designs into buttons. We will be making large buttons for Christmas ornaments, and use festive threads to give your ornaments a lovely sparkle. Also, to complete your collection of wrapped designs, we will make an Otterbauer star ornament in coordinating threads.
