Instructor: Meenal Palashikar

Course Description: In this class one will learn how a basic join is converted into a beautiful pattern. This tatted pattern is an all-chain pattern except for the central foundation ring from which the entire pattern grows. This pattern can be extended into a decorative doily or can be tatted as a small motif. The design is typically symmetrical, with elements arranged in a balanced, radial pattern. The combination of rings and chains creates a visually dynamic, spinning or swirling effect reminiscent of a pinwheel.

To make the pattern look neat, beautiful and appealing one will learn

  1. Front side/back side tatting, shuttle join or lock join
  2. And a cord which is attached to the motif to make a bag tag or book mark.

Meenal has designed this pattern using a technique described by Dora Young in her “All New Knotless Tatting Designs.” Heidi Nakayama recently reprinted this book and Meenal is teaching the technique with Heidi’s permission. The Swirls pattern and instructions are included in the class price. If you are also interested in Dora Young's book, it is available through Heidi Nakayama at “tatkrazy@gmail.com” or https://tattingshuttles.weebly.com/dora-young.html (through PayPal) and also:
