Instructor: Hanka Robertson

Course Description: Valsesian Puncetto or Puncetto Valsesiano® is a knotted lace technique specific to a small area in Italy’s Piemonte province. It is traditionally worked entirely “in hand” with no hoop or frame. It is characterized by symmetrical geometric patterns, especially grids of blocks. There are only two knots used throughout a project. It is the size of the thread used and the motifs chosen for the project design that determine the delicacy of the lace. In this class we will learn the two knots, how to create some basic motifs and how to read the characteristic charts that are used to show all patterns.

Skill Level: Beginner

Prerequisite: Comfortable reading some type of charted pattern, though not necessarily puncetto.
