Course Description: Alençon needle lace is one of the most complex created.  It features lots of lacy elements, uses very fine thread to make it delicate, and most of the stitches are worked as twisted stitches with a whipped return.  Many edge feature picots that are made over horsehair.  This class is an opportunity to learn and practice several of the most used stitches and techniques in a sampler and start a small project. Two project designs are contemporary flowers and a third combines several design elements from an antique lace edging, and a fourth is a very small one with traditional design elements.  We will practice with heavier threads and each student can choose the thread size for her project. Thread options will be sent after registration.
