It is traditionally worked entirely “in hand” with no hoop or frame. It is characterized by symmetrical geometric patterns, especially grids of blocks. There are only two knots used throughout a project. It is the size of the thread used and the motifs chosen for the project design that determine the delicacy of the lace.
