Kit for Christmas 2024 Celebrating Dorset Buttons

This kit accompanies the Christmas 2024 Celebrating Dorset Buttons workshop.

Course Description: This year I thought we would celebrate Christmas with color. So, I’ve designed this Dorset Button hanging using 4mm multi-colored frosted glass beads and glass bugle tube beads. The beads are worked on two different sized rings, 60mm and 40mm. Using the 60mm ring, this workshop will show how to thread beads in a particular order, so they fall in the correct place at the Laying stage (placing the spokes).

If time allows, we can work the 40mm ring in the same way. Finally, I will show you how to join the two rings together and finish the hanging with a crystal suncatcher chandelier pendant.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Prerequisite: Experience with a traditional Dorset Cartwheel button. Students are asked to prepare their ring by Casting (blanket stitching) around it before class.

Kit Description: The kit includes everything you need - two rings, round and bugle beads, several needles, thread and a large crystal. (Each kit contains a different colored crystal. Colors are not shown on the outside of the package, so the color will be a surprise.)
